Kienzle
Art Commission

After manifold experiences in the art market and in art mediation, Jochen Kienzle founded the Art Commission Ltd in 2009. It specializes in works from the 1960s to 80s by outstanding artists. Growing up with his parents’ art collection, Jochen Kienzle (*1959) studied art history in Munich after apprenticing as a carpenter. During this time, he began to lay the foundations for his own art collection with works by Emil Schumacher. Even today, his main emphasis is on works from the 1960s to 80s with a focus on painting and concept art. In 1997 Jochen Kienzle cofounded the Galerie Kienzle & Gmeiner in Berlin together with Annette Gmeiner from Stuttgart. Their focal point was art from the 1960s (at the time still underrepresented) until the present. The gallery program was thus largely identical with gallerist-collector Jochen Kienzle’s specific core interests that revolved around discursive issues pertaining to the creation of images. The Kienzle Art Commission Ltd is a continuation of the Galerie Kienzle & Gmeiner. The diverse services include the sale and placement of artworks, as well as assisting collectors: We consult with collectors, find buyers for works of art, assist in finding conservators, archivists, help to implement contracts, organize transport, and offer support in the care of art or find appropriate storage facilities.
